About Sora

こんにちは、Soraです。 Hi, I'm Sora.

僕は、日本の祭りやよさこいを通して、世界中の人がつながる場所をつくっています。 I create spaces where people connect around the world through Japanese festivals and Yosakoi dance.

日本では約10年間よさこいに関わり、踊り手だけでなく、チーム代表、作品制作、イベント運営などを経験してきました。 I've been involved with Yosakoi for about 10 years in Japan — as a dancer, team leader, choreographer, and event organizer.

現在はオーストラリアを拠点に、各地のフェスティバルへの出演、日本文化イベントの企画、参加型パフォーマンス、ワークショップ、オンライン交流などを行っています。 Now based in Australia, I perform at festivals, organize Japanese culture events, run interactive performances, workshops, and online exchange sessions.

僕が目指しているのは、日本文化を一方的に見せることではありません。そこにいる人たちと一緒に踊り、一緒に笑い、その場所にいる全員で祭りをつくることです。 My goal is not to show Japanese culture one-sidedly. It's to dance together, laugh together, and create a festival with everyone in the room.

Travels the World.

この法被には、世界地図が描かれています。 This happi coat carries a world map on its back.

僕はこの法被を着て世界各地を訪れ、現地の人たちとソーラン節を踊り、その場所で生まれた出会いを記録していきます。 I wear it as I travel the world — dancing Soran Bushi with local people, recording every encounter made along the way.

この法被は、単なる衣装ではありません。日本から世界へ祭りを運び、世界で出会った人や場所を一つにつないでいく、プロジェクトの象徴です。 This is more than a costume. It's the symbol of a project — carrying festivals from Japan to the world, connecting the people and places encountered along the way.

活動する場所が増えるたびに、地球儀にも新しい光が増えていきます。 Each new place I visit, a new light appears on the globe above.

祭り、フェスティバル、学校、地域イベントなどで、よさこい・ソーラン節のパフォーマンスを行います。観客に簡単な動きや掛け声を紹介し、会場全体を巻き込むインタラクティブな構成にも対応します。 Yosakoi and Soran Bushi performances for festivals, schools, and community events — including interactive formats where the audience joins in the dance. No dance experience required.

踊りながら、日本文化を体験する Experience Japanese culture through movement

学校、地域団体、コミュニティイベントなどを対象に、ソーラン節や日本文化の体験型ワークショップを行います。振り付けを完璧に覚えることよりも、大きく体を動かし、声を出し、周りの人と一緒に参加することを大切にしています。 Hands-on Soran Bushi and Japanese culture workshops for schools, community groups, and events. The focus is on moving freely, making noise together, and feeling the spirit of the festival — not perfecting choreography.

OMATSURI TALK

世界中の人と、日本語と日本文化でつながる Connect with the world through Japanese language and culture

OMATSURI TALKは、日本語や日本文化に興味を持つ人たちが、世界各地からオンラインで集まる少人数の交流セッションです。先生と生徒の関係ではなく、友達のように話し、新しい言葉、文化、人との出会いを楽しみます。日本語初心者でも参加できます。 OMATSURI TALK is a small online exchange session for people interested in Japanese language and culture, gathering from around the world. Not a classroom — a festival of conversation, culture, and new connections. Beginners welcome.

Every session is a festival.

Japanese ARAWA Festival

企画・運営・出演 Organizer · Performer

2026年2月、オーストラリア・タスマニア州で「Japanese ARAWA Festival」を企画・開催しました。よさこい、和太鼓、書道、折り紙、日本食などを通して、地域の人たちが日本文化を見て、体験し、人とつながれる場所をつくりました。 In February 2026, I organized and led the Japanese ARAWA Festival in Latrobe, Tasmania. Through Yosakoi, Taiko, calligraphy, origami, and Japanese food, we created a space where locals could experience Japanese culture and connect with each other.

イベントの企画から行政との調整、出演者との連携、広報、運営、出演まで、すべてを担当しました。 I handled everything — planning, local government coordination, performer management, promotion, operations, and performance.

2026年5月、ケアンズで日本人のワーキングホリデー参加者が主催するフェスティバルに出演しました。 In May 2026, I performed at a festival organized by Japanese working holiday participants in Cairns.

このイベントで初めて、観客に声をかけ、一緒に踊ってもらう参加型パフォーマンスを本格的に実施しました。初めは見ていた人たちが少しずつ輪の中に入り、最後には年齢や国籍を越えて、みんなで同じ踊りを楽しんでいました。その光景が、現在の活動の大きな原点になっています。 For the first time, I went beyond solo performance — calling to the audience, inviting them to dance alongside me. One by one, observers stepped into the circle. By the end, people of all ages and nationalities were moving together. That moment became the origin of everything I do now.

2026年6月、タスマニア州ローンセストンで開催された「World Street Eats」に出演しました。 In June 2026, I performed at World Street Eats in Launceston, Tasmania.

ケアンズでの経験を生かし、ソーラン節のパフォーマンスだけでなく、観客に簡単な動きや掛け声を紹介し、会場にいる人たちと一緒に踊る時間をつくりました。 Drawing on my Cairns experience, I went beyond solo performance — teaching the audience simple movements and calls, creating a shared dance with everyone present.
